Ecology and evolutionary biology has always been my interest and it’s fascinating to study how organisms adapt to the environment around them. Currently, I am working on synonymous codon mutants of Methylobacterium extorquens that we evolved in the lab. I am trying to find out whether mutations acquired during the course of evolution confer any fitness (growth) benefits to some of these mutants. For my PhD project, I plan to analyze changes in the gut flora of butterflies as a function of their diet and developmental stage. I am currently supported by a UGC (University Grants Commission) fellowship.

Apart from lab work, I like wild life treks, traveling, trying out different cuisines, movies and sports.
